Shock horror. News that Bank of England (BoE) officials are secretly researching the economic implications and financial fallout for Britain should the country vote to exit the European Union (EU) - aka ‘Brexit’ - in a forthcoming referendum shouldn’t come as any real surprise. The Bank, which is the UK’s main financial regulator, wouldn’t exactly be doing its job if wasn’t monitoring such matters.
